Mr Cash Back Slot Machine
The Mr Cash Back slot from Playtech is a machine that uses some interesting features that make for a game that’s great fun to play but perhaps not so appealing to look at. The overall theme is of a fictitious gameshow, hosted by Mr Cash Back himself.
It’s got kind of a 1980s “prime time” Saturday night entertainment feel to it but it doesn’t really take it far enough to be considered captivating. It could go all out with “here’s what you could have won” typical game show elements but it doesn’t. The lack of a solid theme makes the game feel a bit confused, and not quite as strong as it might do.

Mr Cash Back Review
|Our Rating:||3 / 5|
- Innovative game features.
- The player has absolute control over betting sizes. There are options to choose the coin value, line bet, and the number of lines active at once.
- Not the most creative, or exciting thematically.
- Does the gamble mode actually use a proper random number generator? This isn’t a complaint as much as it is a genuine question. We couldn’t find out if it does or not.
The top symbols that award the biggest jackpots in Mr Cashback are all suitably inspired by money. Each of them will pay the following for hitting five-of-a-kind across a single win line:
- Mr Cashback “wild” = 7,500x the line bet.
- Bags of coins = 800x the line bet.
- Stacks of dollars = 500x the line bet.
- Piggy bank = 300x the line bet.
Mr Cashback’s best quality has got to be its interesting take on special features. There are quite a few that can be activated during the game and we’ve outlined how to trigger, and play them below.
Mr Cash Back Free Games
Hitting three or more Mr Cash Back logos anywhere across the reels will trigger the Mr Cash Back Free Games round. Players will receive 12 free games with a default multiplier of 2x. In addition, freezing wilds will appear randomly on the reels during free spins.
Freezing wilds might appear for just one re-spin, or they might appear for four, or anywhere in between. Players should note, additional free games cannot be retriggered.
Mr Cashback Feature
The Mr Cashback feature is active during the main game only. It’s triggered when a single win line doesn’t win at least once for every 50 spins completed. Every time a given win line doesn’t produce a winner for 50 spins, the line bet is refunded times 50. It’s literally getting your cash back!
What’s more, the cashback status of a line is saved when a pay line is deactivated, and it’s restored after the pay line is re-activated. The game also remembers the player’s cashback status when leaving the game. It will restore when the game is reloaded at a later date.
There’s also a gamble feature on Mr Cash Back, and any single win will trigger it. Players can either take their win, or risk it for a bigger prize. They must select either red or black from a deck of cards, and if they guess the colour of the next card drawn, they’ll be paid at odds of 2:1.
They are then given the option again, and can either take their prize, or gamble again. If they’re particularly fortunate, wins can reach a massive £5,000. Not bad at all.
In addition to the higher value, cash-related symbols, there are also some that pay lesser prizes. As is traditional in video slots these days, these are taken from the upper end of a standard deck of playing cards (A, K, Q, J, 10, 9). Each of these lower symbols will pay the following for hitting five-of-a-kind:
- Ace = 200x the line bet.
- King, or Queen = 150x the line bet.
- Jack = 100x the line bet.
- 10 = 75x the line bet.
- 9 = 50x the line bet.
As mentioned, the player retains ultimate control when deciding their betting size on Mr Cash Back. They can select the number of coins bet per line, the value of each of them, and the number of lines they wish to bet upon. This makes for a substantial number of different ways to mix up the size of bets, and can only be a positive in terms of gameplay experience.
The highest possible bet per spin on Mr Cash Back is by using 15 win lines, £5 a coin, and 10 coins per line. This makes every spin cost an impressive £750. Conversely, with all the values set to their minimum, the lowest spin possible is just 1p.
What We Think
Mr Cash Back is a decent enough game, and will excite those who value gameplay over imagery. There are lots of different interesting features that can result in some sizeable pay outs, and additions like the Mr Cash Back feature are nice touches indeed.
