Inviting players to take on the role of a professional burglar, Thief is a slot game with a unique theme. To let you know a little more about it, we have put together our full review which reveals the game’s top jackpot, special symbols and features, paytable details and betting limits.
As is the case with all five reel slot games, the most valuable payline combinations in Thief are those made up of five identical symbols. The most valuable symbol within the Thief slot is the diamond symbol, which is worth 5000 times the bet level for a five symbol combination and as such, can provide a payline jackpot of 50,000 coins at the highest possible bet level.
That diamond symbol only appears during the ‘Adrenaline Free Spins’ feature of the slot, however, and in the main game the most valuable symbol is the night vision goggles symbol. That symbol is worth 500 times the bet level, meaning a top possible payline jackpot of 5000 coins at the highest bet level.
The maximum coin value which players can set for this slot is 50p and that means that those two top jackpots can be worth a maximum of £25,000 or £2500 respectively.
However by combining features you can win a total of 68,550 coins which is substantially better (but still a lower jackpot than a lot of games).
Most of the Thief symbols display images of items which a professional burglar would need to carry out a heist but there are also three special symbols involved in the game. These are the slot’s Expanding Wild Symbols, its Scatter symbol and its Adrenaline Scatter symbol.
Wild Symbol – expanding Wilds can appear on reels two, three or four during the main game and during free spins. They substitute for all symbols apart from the two types of scatter, always go towards making the most valuable possible combination for a payline and if they are involved in a winning combination they expand to cover their whole reel.
Scatter Symbol – thief’s traditional Scatter symbol can appear on reels three, four and five, and if three of them – or a three symbol combination of these and of the Adrenaline Scatter symbols – appear on those reels, ten free spins are activated.
Those free spins are played at the same bet level and coin value as the spin which activated them but neither the diamond symbol nor Adrenaline Scatter symbols can appear on the reels.
If three Adrenaline Scatter symbols appear anywhere on reels three, four or five, this activates ten ‘Adrenaline Free Spins’.
During this special free spins, only the thief tool, adrenaline scatter and diamond symbols appear on the reels. That increases the chance of winning significant jackpots in the spins which are also played at the same bet level and coin value as the spin which activated them.
As touched upon earlier, the Thief paytable is interesting in that the most valuable diamond symbol can actually only be seen during Adrenaline Free Spins. A five diamond symbol combination pays at a rate of 5000 times the bet level and at bet level ten can therefore deliver the top possible payline jackpot of 50,000 coins.
Within the main Thief game, the most valuable combination is one made up of five of the night vision goggles symbol. That combination is worth 500 times the chosen bet level and so at bet level ten can be worth 5000 coins per payline. The game stipulates, furthermore, that the top overall jackpot possible is a total of 68,550 coins.
In order to control and adjust how much they bet per spin, players of Thief can alter both the bet level and the coin value for each spin. The six possible coin values rangefrom 1p to 50p and players can choose a bet level of anywhere between one and ten coins per payline.
A minimum stake of just 25p is possible, then, if the player chooses a coin value of 1p and bet level one. A maximum of £125, meanwhile, can be reached if they instead choose a coin value of 50p and bet level ten.
What We Think
Boasting an interesting theme and two different kinds of free spins, Thief is a slot game that will appeal to some players but which when you analyse it more closely, doesn’t compare well with other slot game options.
The slot’s main game is a traditional five reel offering and the two types of free spins which can be triggered do add some extra interest for players. On the whole, however, gameplay is fairly simplistic and offers no real bonus games or additional features away from the main reels.
In spite of the two separate free spins, too, Thief is not a game which can boast particularly impressive top jackpots. Within the main game, the highest possible 5000 coin payline jackpot is low when compared with other slots and even the potential 50,000 coin payline jackpot from Adrenaline Free Spins doesn’t match up with top payouts from other games.
Thief, therefore, is a potentially fun slot game but is not one which rates highly when compared to the other slot options on the market.
